Dave Kim

Dave Kim serves as Director, AI within the Office of the CEO at Shore Capital Partners, a lower middle-market private equity firm that partners with companies generating $1–10 million of EBITDA. Dave works across the firm and its portfolio companies to identify the AI opportunities that actually matter and help them move quickly from strategy to execution.

 

Previously, Dave invested in early-stage emerging technology startups at IDEO CoLab Ventures, IDEO’s venture arm. He also built the platform support program behind the fund’s 90+ portfolio companies; established a creative residency bridging design, technology, and venture; and helped pioneer the concept of creative capital.

 

Earlier, Dave led innovation strategy for the global financial inclusion team at the Gates Foundation. He built innovation labs that reached over 34 million low-income people, shipped award-winning public goods, and led research programs that shaped national and G20 policies.

 

Prior to that, Dave was at ?What If! Innovation, where he partnered with Fortune 500 companies build new ventures, products, and services and helped them develop lasting cultures and capabilities around creativity and innovation. He started his career as a consultant at Opera Solutions, one of the first big data analytics firms.

 

Dave holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Cornell University. A New Jersey native, he now lives on a small island in the Pacific Northwest.
