Bio
Cynthia Hiskes is Head of Human Capital on the Centers of Excellence (COE) team at Shore Capital, a lower middle-market private equity firm focused on partnering with companies with between $1-10 million of EBITDA. Cynthia’s responsibilities include working with investment, board, and management teams to identify and execute human capital growth and value creation opportunities in the portfolio.
The COE is part of the Portfolio Performance Group, a strategic investment in over 50 people providing access to Fortune 500-caliber resources designed to work with your company over the life our partnership. The COE focuses on “transformation” to help you scale during the partnership. These highly experienced and accomplished executives have functional expertise in IT, HR, M&A, sales, marketing, data, RCM, lean manufacturing, and payor strategy.
Cynthia is a seasoned business executive and advisor to senior leaders of rapidly growing businesses. She enjoys over 30 years of experience in multi-site Fortune 500 and growth companies in the CPG, Technology and Healthcare sectors. Beginning her career in manufacturing operations and evolving into human resources, she maintains a unique perspective expertly identifying and forecasting challenges within and between the business and human capital strategies. Throughout her career, she has evolved this expertise, applying it to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, expanding and evolving businesses.
Before coming to Shore, Cynthia was the Chief People Officer at Tend Dental where she focused on engagement and retention results to support revenue growth and profitability. Prior to Tend, Cynthia was the Chief Human Resources Officer at Oak Street Health, a technology enabled Primary Care practice for adults on Medicare. During her 4-year tenure, Oak Street grew from 23 clinics to over 150, all through de novo development, culminating in a highly successful IPO in 2020. Prior to Oak Street, Cynthia was the CPO at Cars.com, supporting their maturation and emergence as a publicly held company through acquisition and business diversification. Earlier in her career, Cynthia held the CHRO role at Ferrara Candy Company, led HR for a multinational B2B Personal Care business and built the HR function at a fabless semi-conductor business that was ultimately acquired by Freescale (a divestiture from Motorola). She began her career in manufacturing operations at Procter and Gamble after graduating with an Engineering degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Cynthia is also a certified Professional Leadership coach.
